God Will Be There As Father
Hi my name is Mikaela Ritzler, my LOG participant was LOG #87. Going into LOG, I wasn’t sure what to expect. My relationship with God was at an all time low and I truly felt as if he wasn’t there for me or as if he gave up on me. Not knowing where I stood with God made going to LOG very nerve racking. Soon the Friday of LOG rolled around and I was contemplating on if I should follow through and go or to just stay home. In the end my mom convinced me to go. Which by the way was the best decision of my life.
When I entered LOG, I could feel all of the positive energy in the room, everyone was so happy to see me – even the people I didn’t know. That Friday night, I was not happy – I still didn’t feel like I was with God and I really wanted to go home. I did not want to go to sleep because I didn’t want to know what was going to happen on that Saturday. Little did I know that on Saturday I would finally re-gain my relationship with God.
I am a cradle Christian and have only known the church every Sunday and youth group on Sunday nights. Growing up like this was interesting and a little confusing because I knew that I loved God but I didn’t know why. All I knew was that I’m supposed to believe and love him. As I got older and got the chance to read more in depth into the bible and really try to understand who God is, I discovered the verse Corinthians 6:8 which says “yet for us there is but one God, the Father from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live”. After reading this verse I finally understood who God is to me. God is my Father and my Savior. He is never going to leave me and he is never going to give up on me and he is never going to give up on any of you either – God will be with us no matter how many mistakes we have made or will make in the future. On that Saturday, as I opened myself up to God and all of the wonderful LOG people, I truly felt God sitting next to me and being with me through all of it. Even when we are sad or happy or mad or confused, God will be there as a Father. Even if you don’t think you have a Father, you do I promise you that – and his name is GOD.
